Presentation Tools in Libraries
Hi Folks! Christine, here.
Aren't presentation tools fun?! I think so, but I also have an obsession with office supplies and the perfect pen and ink. (Currently, I am using a Parker Vector Medium Rollerball with a bold, black refill and I highly recommend it, here's one similar.)
On to the presentation tools!
I really wish that I could go back in time and present a PowerPoint to my father on why I should be given a pony (or any number of things that he vetoed, as was his role as my dad). With the proper visuals, who knows what I could have accomplished, and i
f teens today aren't presenting their parents with the pros and cons of getting a car for their 16th birthday, utilizing slides and a laser pointer then we're losing a generation! Not really, but I do love the use of visuals to fully communicate an idea.
This semester's students learned a variety of ways to gather, organize, and present information using presentation tools: Google Slides, PowerPoint, LucidPress, Voki, Blogger, and we're not even finished, yet!
Sigh... And then this happened...
Did you know this is Melvile Dewey and he invented the Dewey Decimal System of organizing? Plus, he also thought it would be cool if women worked in the library which is incredible. I thought I discovered the dreamy man I should have married, over a hundred years ago, and then I read further and he's ...not so great in very important other ways. Read about his exploits, here.
Isn't that disappointing? I really dislike discovering something about someone that is so vile, and it's happened quite a bit, lately. This access to information and the spread of said-information is a result of our digital age, but that's a topic for another post.
*stay tuned for more*
